Pros

Strong brand opens doors Diverse and smart co-workers Down to earth corporate culture

Cons

Opaque, slow and political promotion process Poor compensation FMA one of the worst groups within BlackRock Since the early days, FMA has essentially been transformed into a risk consultancy group, similar to that of the Big 4 firms. Financial / capital markets work now only constitutes a small part of the overall pipeline. There are limited touch points between FMA's activities and the rest of the firm, other than Aladdin. FMA's leadership is relatively political and does not adequately address structural issues (extensive business travel, long hours, neglected data analytics team, lack of promotions, etc.). The future strategy for the team is unclear and it remains to be seen if FMA will be around in the long run.

Pros

Great benefits -FTO, STD for 12 weeks 100% paid, progressive maternity/paternity leave

Cons

Lack of career development. Pay while competitive initially tanks after you have been there a while. Huge emphasis on inclusion and diversity has actually divided the firm into silos.

Thanks for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you appreciate our benefits. One point of clarification: our U.S. short-term disability plan provides salary continuation for a total of 180 days in a 12-month period and the benefit decreases to 80% of an employee’s base salary after 90 days. We care deeply about our colleagues and are committed to providing opportunities to learn, develop and advance in their careers. We also strive to create an inclusive and innovative environment in which our colleagues can grow their careers. We value inclusion and diversity and believe that the contributions of a diverse team contribute to innovation and strong leadership. We encourage you to speak your manager or HR about it.

Pros

You learn a lot in a fast paced environment. You connect with a number of different teams in different time zones.

Cons

They work you like a dog. The pay is not worth it. The location in Delaware is horrible. No opportunity to move up the corporate ladder. You take crapfrom Portfolio Managers in New York all day.
