Pros

A great New York driven firm You are valued for your views and open thoughts Culture is brilliant

Cons

APAC region does not carry the companies vision and principles well at all. Too much senior level "dirty power politics" hampering the APAC region. Good people made victims of personal preferences of senior management in APAC region. You have to be in someone's good books to survive in the APAC region.

Pros

Great people, work/life balance is great, culture is nice with everyone having time for each other. Opportunity to move teams and get promoted but really you need to be in one of the main regions. Could be difficult to thrive outside of the NY office but some manage it.

Cons

Obsessed with diversity which is code for not hiring white men. Don't bother applying if you are white & male. Openly admit to this with comments from the top of the business stating 'lets just say we've raised the bar for white guys' and 'this quarter we hired a record number of non white males - well done to all'. Matter of time before they get sued for this. Pay is below average and they are aware but think people will take a pay cut to work for them "cause they are Blackrock" Pick your group well. Not all groups are treated equally. Top management have favorites. At the moment Technology doing well and firm always had a fixed income focus so. There is a saying in Blackrock that if you report into a founding member you are sorted, without getting on their radar you are a number.

Pros

Free Coffee Often say thank you, but salary and bonus disappoint Aspirational -yet don't fund industry standard courses or encourage ongoing learning or education Autonomy - managers don't know or care what's going on as long as you don't ask questions, make mistakes, or add to their work work load Flat structure - flat pay - clearly suits the mediocre employee Great figure heads, Fink,Kapito, Goldstein - lots of inspiration, little action however Slick marketing machine, little substance to offer Apply now! We'll offer you a job for below average wages and above average workload 'One blackrock's' values - they are so meaningful and differentiating

Cons

Where to start..... Salaries & bonus are rubbish and below industry average as blackrock rely on their dubious reputation to attract eager talent Management only cares about sales, not service - consequently service / relationship management is not respected or remunerated Dated platform & technology - fragmented infrastructure is slow and cumbersome Cultural issues remain despite BGI 'unification' years ago Long hours with little appreciation Little bonus but thank you for your contribution for the Firm
