Due to the nature of the work, it's a very high pressure environment. At times, it felt like a sweat shop. If you are just starting out in your career, please do not work here. You will not learn the latest technologies and you will stagnate. There is so much overhead that has nothing to do with programming and there is very little room for advancement.

For global data, the quality of your job really depends on the group you get. Many people have been working there for years, and they don't seem to grow out of it. Bloomberg will help you if you have a position you are more interested in, but it is easy to get too comfortable. Also, you have to enjoy watching the markets from the sidelines instead of participating. It is a data driven job, so it can be pretty boring and not too analytical.
