Pros

* Well paid, good bonuses and rises * Engineering focused company with lots of smart people who love C++ * Lots of free food and drinks etc.

Cons

* Some roles are a lot more interesting than others. I was in a boring role maintaining an ancient and horrific javascript code base * Too many Bloomberg specific frameworks and tech with not good enough docs or guides. * Standard work day is 8.30 to 6.30, The last hour and a half of every day my brain just checked out and I would sit staring at the clock because the day was so long.

Pros

Great Benfits - 100% Paid Medical - Philanthropy - Dollars for Hours match for volunteer work

Cons

Firm has an issue with experienced workers. There is a "Glass Ceiling" but instead of being about gender, it is about age. Once this was not the case but current mgmt seems to be intent on lowering the average age and experience level of employees

Pros

The analytics training program provides employees with an excellent foundation in market concepts. I found their Fixed Income training the best a recent grad can acquire. Additionally, there are excellent exit opportunities from what I've heard from past employees.

Cons

First, let's get the job description straight. If you choose to join the analytics program you will be a customer service representative where you will be "on queue". Quite literally called "The Help Desk" you will be treated as if you work at Comcast and will solve client inqurires (usually 3 at a time). Questions could include but are not limited too: "CALL ME" "My launchpad is broken" "Can you confirm the IPO date 943819 US Equity was on 9/8/2017?" However, it's truly the management that lack of empathy that creates an environment that makes the desk an inky black hole where every molecule of light/joy cannot escape. A few examples include: -Time off has to be asked 120 days in advance no matter the situation during the holidays/summer -No breaks (including the bathroom) are to be given if the queue is busy -Genuine disregard for the emotions, aspirations, and general well being of employees.
