Pros

- really cool and smart people from all around the world; - very good benefits (life&health insurance / discounts / pantry / retirement program); - lots of technology used on every day basis = you must learn it = you develop your skills (at least in the first 1-2 yrs); - no pressure for overtime or crazy DDLs = work-life balance; - philanthropy events and volunteering during working hour; - most managers are smart and take care of the teams they manage, but often pressured to innovate or change something which works good, just because someone much higher thinks differently; - really huge knowledge bank of internal and external training resources: at least for Global Data people;

Cons

- some teams within the same department do quite sophisticated work, while others "copy-paste" - if you apply for a job ask lots of questions on what exactly you're going to do and what tools/software you'll use/need to learn; - inconsistent pay across company and further salary increases that are not as high as in this industry for people with that knowledge of data management and understanding of financial markets; - unless you really push for it, it is hard to develop yourself in a long term (+3 years) without changing the department or becoming a manager;

Pros

Benefits are good, pantry and free breakfast in the morning

Cons

Good talent is often under-appreciated or not rewarded appropriately. Too many people skating through or rewarded w/ promotion doing just a bit more than the bare minimum. Horrible middle management who are just looking to keep their own status quo instead of helping their employees to grow.

Bloomberg -- don't have a life outside the office

Pros

Good pay and benefits, great offices, and great people to work with. But, not a place to work if you want to have a life outside the office. There is lots of corporate talk about how they support work-life balance, but when push comes to shove, they really don't.

Cons

When Mike Bloomberg came back to the company after his last term as NY mayor, it became a company in flux. It doesn't seem like it has a clear vision of its future (beyond making lots of money and trying to keep Mike happy).
