Pros

It all depends on what team you work in and in what department. I happen to have a good management chain but it all depends on the department you're in. Pay and vacation is okay. Its not the best but its not bad either. I'm excited to go to work everyday but that wasn't always the case. And there are some who love coming into work and others who don't.

Cons

Again it depends on the department you're in. Overall, for a rich company they are quite cheap about silly little things. But over indulge in other things.

Pros

Free food, which is not all that great. Monopoly position in its market helps allow for massive wastage of resources (see below).

Cons

Innumerable. Huge bureaucracy, ritualistic cult-like atmosphere, bizarre big-brother monitoring everywhere. Does everyone really need to know where and when you badged in and out? Entire teams that do little to nothing. Regular need to tell managers to pi** off when they attempt to bully you. Mind-numbingly boring work. Early 1980's technology hasn't changed a bit. And lastly, now that the owner has returned, having exhausted his political adventure, it is like Odysseus returning to Ithaca and there will be major lettings go, new joiners first.

Pros

The culture is work-hard, play-hard, with much thought put toward philanthropy and the environment (these altruistic goals really come from the top-down); great snacks; great office/environment; a lot of smart people all across the board; convenient location; great connections throughout the city due to the CEO being a former mayor; lots of educational opportunities outside of field, such as financial training for R&D folks, technical training for business-folks; payment for further education; sports teams to play on. Great healthcare, great 50% match on 401k; generous pay-raises and bonuses. Awesome training program for fresh-out-of-college hires: 12 weeks long, fantastic instructors for advanced C++ and javascript (and a lot more), plus great networking opportunities. Really well run. The whole company works like clockwork, from facilities to help desk to sales to software to data warehouse. Quite impressive.

Cons

A lot of proprietary software development tools. A lot of customers don't like change; customers are paying a steep price, and thus often have a stronger say than they should.
