Pros

Potentially great projects, and the people are good to work with. Benefits are almost standard across the industry, so nothing special. Share scheme is decent....

Cons

Lack of team cohesion from the management. Some have only seen CGI and have no experience with other businesses. An old boy network is in place, which limits promotion or care. Onboarding is a joke! The bonus scheme is sold as magical, but in reality, you might be able to get a meal for two. We're all members - some more than others! The management is full of promises but cannot take ownership of failures.

Pros

Work / Life balance was decent.

Cons

I worked at CGI for a few years and for most of that time, my experience was positive. However, over the past few months—particularly following recent government budget cuts—the company's response has been deeply disappointing. Rather than handling a tough situation with integrity and transparency, I’ve watched the leadership team resort to questionable tactics. Instead of offering severance packages and treating impacted employees with respect, high-performing individuals were placed on Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as a means to terminate them without consequence. This approach has not only demoralized employees but also undermined trust throughout the organization, including among long-tenured leaders and veterans. What’s most disheartening is seeing how CGI's competitors have navigated similar challenges with far more compassion and professionalism. In contrast, CGI’s handling of recent events has felt cold, careless, and driven solely by cost-cutting. Unfortunately, this speaks volumes about the company’s values. Based on my recent experience, I cannot recommend CGI as an employer. Proceed with caution.

Pros

There is nothing to be said about the advantages.

Cons

• Director Qualification: • A person with only four years of experience is promoted to director, with unclear criteria on how this decision is made. • Ineffective Management: • Directors appear to act merely as middle managers rather than providing effective leadership, despite employees directly interacting with clients. • Leave Policy Issues: • Employees must use their vacation days even when leave is approved or provided as a company holiday, which is seen as unreasonable. • Hiring and Firing Practices: • The company hires and fires employees arbitrarily, without clear, consistent reasons. • Buddy System Problems: • A policy requires senior employees to report to junior resources after three years, which is counterintuitive and hampers effective mentoring. • Salary Increment Concerns: • There is no formal salary hike or percentage-based salary increment system, negatively affecting employee motivation. • Overall Management and HR Issues: • These points collectively indicate poor management and HR practices that need to be addressed.
