Pros

Good pension scheme, share scheme that matches your contribution and that you can withdraw within days, free healthcare, lots of benefits with 3rd party retailers

Cons

They would rather you leave then pay you the market rate for your role. Disconnect between senior management and the lower levels at what is successful and what isn't. Excessive amounts of administration e.g. having to fill in timesheets for 9-5 roles regardless of your level of employment, constant mandatory surveys on what you think of the company, what the company thinks of you, what you think of your peers, what your peers think of you.

Pros

Don't get me wrong, CGI, or the people you work with, are great and is definitely the highlight of the company. Its a great place to start your career, but i cant imagine people in this new generation staying as long as current employees who have been here for 15+ years. Benefits include: Skill Growth - you will have plenty of opportunities to expand your skillset, both in theory and in practice. They also have great options to get certifications and take courses Comraderie - I don't stay for the company, I stay for my coworkers. More time than I can count I sacrificed time with family and my personal life to support my team and coworkers, and they've done the same for me. Even when everyone's drowning, you can count on your equals. Travel- If you've always wanted to travel to obscure state capitals and cities, this I'd the place to do it.

Cons

Uncompetitive Salary - Benefits are decent, but salary is horrendous. In times past, if you worked hard, kept your head down, and did more than you were asked, you could expect to be compensated accordingly. As much as CGI's claim to fame is culture, the sad fact is that there culture is eerily similar to most corporations. If you let them, they'll will squeeze you for every drop you've got and tell you "if you keep working hard, you might just get that raise you've waited 5 years for" Poor Worklife Balance - This may depend on the BU but as I mentioned in one of the pros, CGI does not have boundaries when it comes to your personal life. Every project, no matter how small, is life and death and they expect you to sacrifice time with family and your personal life to support the cause. Set boundaries early or you can expect traveling on holidays. Poor Executive Team - As most companies have, the Executives are skilled at political speech. They don't address real issues, use fluffed up language to redirect, and care more about shareholders than 'members'. There is also a huge disconnect between Executives and upper Management. At that demarcation, you become a number, not a person or valuable team member. Even if your VP, Manager, etc., want that raise you deserve, even they can't get that money

Not a Good Company

Pros

Salary and benefits are mediocre.

Cons

1) All about billable hours, if you are not billable then they terminate you without any help on landing projects. 2) Career development very ambiguous. 3) No dedicated business development. It is up to the consultant to find new opportunities.
