Pros

to have an experience in a consulting firm

Cons

CGI Do not respect their employees whose mandate is over and have to place them to a new client. CGI forgets how much you brought before beeing on the bench. If you want to stay there, you should follow a carreer plan and invest you own money to stay at the level. CGI won't pay for any formation for you... And it is a workshop too; the client is always right even if it is obvious that it is wrong. CGI have many mediocre carreer managers and directors using their consultants expertise and make the work of the latters, as theirs. NOT A GOOD PLACE TO BE RESPECTED AS AN EMPLOYEE. NEVER WORK THERE

Pros

They were good with work/life balance issues. They have this idea of compensatory time when you work extra hours, so almost never had an issue with having enough vacation time.

Cons

The company is too corporate and straight out of the tv show "the office". Communications are handed down from the top with no explanation of the company's strategic direction and vision. They seemed genuinely proud to be the "8th largest" IT company in the world, and never did management explain if/how they planned to move up in that ranking. Reviews and promotions were arbitrary and often you could be promoted without a pay raise, because raises and promotions were on different cycles!

Pros

Honestly, the only great reason to work for CGI is when you are fresh out of college. If I say anything else is good, I would be lying.

Cons

Get your 1 year experience, and move on. The management is clueless on large projects, and treats you like kids. Managers are picked based on who is in the "clique." Experience and people skills mean nothing to become a manager or team lead. Morale is often very low due to very weak management. Little to no communication. Managers always pass the blame to people on their team, it is never their faults. Little to no direction. Team leads are often kids - very immature, and childish - i.e. playing hangman during meetings (true story).
