Pros

Short commute, large scale technical problem, ok salaries, seemingly nice coworkers (who actually may complain to your boss behind your back)

Cons

Employees are rewarded for visibility rather than meaningful result. Success is measured by how much attention one attracts. Coworkers often talk behind people's back and then complain to the boss. People organize meaningless meetings for competition to be seen rather than real collaboration. Leadership teams have short term optics vs long term outcomes driving decisions looking good in the moment rather than what sustains long term success. Squid game to PIP 12-15% every 6 months. Lots of new hiring from FAANG companies and some of those are really rude and toxic.

Pros

Good tech stack with most infra details abstracted to pipeline configuration files. Overbearing amount of swag

Cons

Forced stack ranking creates a toxic competitive culture. Excessive re-orgs mean you're constantly trying to impress a new boss and not employed long if you get a bad one.

Pros

Not the highest in the industry, but decent offer for first year join contingent on staying for a year.

Cons

Verbally abused as a newcomer because of "cultural differences." You are reminded constantly from day one that your job is at risk. The disposable attitude towards developers leads to most people owning apps that they do not understand, and fear of being fired prevents people from doing proper development. Knowledge transfer is minimal because bringing others to your level means your job is at risk. Stack ranking is to the detriment of the product and development experience. Teamwork is not promoted. Low innovation room on majority of teams. Required to be available off hours and over weekend in addition to normal on-call rotations. In office hours are required, but still you won't be working closely with your team.
