Pros

Capital One has really good benefits and excellent work life balance. The holidays are a plus because you receive time off for just about all federal holidays, President's Day, Columbus Day, etc., including the national holidays. The yearly bonus is great plus.

Cons

The performance evaluation process is not entirely fair. It's highly subjective and promotions are few and far between. Compensation is not below average in the industry (low base pay), however a bonus is given yearly but not guaranteed and it's solely based on your performance evaluation. Re-orgs are constant and at times you could have 2-3 managers in one year, which I think hinders career growth.

Pros

Rewards commensuarte with effort expended, very fair place to work. Tremendous learning opportunities and training support, great support and networking.

Cons

Sometimes the wheels turn slowly, patience and persistence necessary to succeed.

Pros

Interesting project work. Very smart, talented coworkers. Ability to do new things. It doesn't get stale and you are always challenged. Everybody gets a laptop and Blackberry, and the technology tools available are fairly good. There is some flexibility to work remotely, but there are few, if any, professional positions that are advertised as being remote jobs.

Cons

Very heavy on standard, procedures, and process. It's a bank, after all, and heavily regulated. The work environment is "mobile." That means it's so crowded it's like working in an ant hill. Every time they "restack" the work spaces, you end up with less room. Agile work team spaces are like being in pre-school. Everybody sits around a table elbow to elbow and I got two colds and two sinus infections in the first four months with my team. They are leasing new buildings and creating more space, but oh boy is it crowded.
