Pros

Some teams, especially ones led by and reporting to employees who were with capital for a long time are still awesome all around

Cons

Capital One hired a lot of senior managers, directors and VPs from companies that are known for exploiting people and burning their old companies down. This rapid intake of toxicity resulted in complete change in culture and company's values. You will be graded and promoted based on your visibility, not your contributions or performance.

Pros

hybrid work and coworkers are nice

Cons

chaos management, company culture is so toxic and manager made up lies about my performance, took credit, and blamed me for his fault. There's no transparency from upper leadership. Too many stakeholders and ideas for one single project and no one could/ would like to make the call. Rather than improving projects and collaboration with coworkers, stack ranking makes people more into self-promoting, 'please' all stakeholders and blaming others for anything off.

Pros

Brilliant people in my team and a really supportive environment within Operations. Senior management in Operations (our Senior Director) really knows Ops and understands the problems, asks the right questions and is supportive.

Cons

Everyone is leaving. Over the last 6 months we’ve lost all the ‘people people’. There are going to be no role models. Where do I look for examples of people who have built great Operations careers? I don’t want to be an analyst but it seems that only these skills are valued. The problem is these are not the right people to be running Operations. As if it wasn’t enough to be losing our experienced female lead we now also face losing our VP. It’s very obvious he has lost all faith in the leadership of the company. Many others will follow. An Operation led by credit analysts is not somewhere I or others who want to build an Operations career, want to work. Wake up Capital One. It takes a mix of skills.
