Pros

The benefits were quite good (401k, vacation, low insurance premiums, etc).

Cons

I was with the company for several years, so I definitely had a good sense of the culture, processes, etc. So many people there have aggressive, competitive attitudes, that teamwork really lacked. Arguing and ego battles were fairly common, and everything always felt tense. Because of the way the performance review process was structured, everyone was always running around trying to boss everyone else around. If people had questions about the way you approached things, instead of talking to you, they just escalated to your management. Likewise, you were criticized for the smallest things during performance reviews. In order to survive, you should be comfortable with negotiating difficult situations nearly all the time with high levels of energy.

Pros

Good pay and benefits - 7.5% contribution to 401k to your 6%. $1,000 company contribution to your flex spending account for dependent care or health care. Reasonable rates for medical. If it weren't for the strong pay and benefits, I wouldn't have stuck around even a year.

Cons

Horrible business processes and systems. Constant reorganization and restructuring. No one is willing to step up and make a decision on anything - it's impossible to get things done. Horrible bonus determination methods - lots of favoritism, and lots of times performance ratings are assigned by someone with almost no knowledge of whom they're rating.

Pros

Work life balance. Flexibility to work from home. 401K match. Potential for significant salary increases at EOY based on Board of Directors.

Cons

No transparency from changing leadership. Performance management is entirely contingent on your direct manager so if they are inexperienced or lack leadership skills, consider yourself screwed. Based on the rating system, associates are self interested and will withhold information from teammates in order to make themselves look good. The company claims they are diverse but they spend an insane amount of money sending leadership to classes and when they come back nothing has changed. Difficult to move departments because there are so many layoffs. No incentive to go above and beyond because there is no recognition unless you beg for it. Misogynistic attitude from the top down. The higher level associate, the greater chance of them acting like you don’t exist. If you are a head-down, get things done kind of a person, this is not the place for you.
