Pros

The size makes it stable and able to afford "bells & whistles". There are tons of opportunities to do things in your career that are only tangentially related to your past.

Cons

Just because you're necessary, it doesn't make you important. You are a number. The facilities are so spread out that travel is a necessity. The expected amount of time is more than 40hours/week. Some of the campuses are very large, and difficult to navigate.

Pros

Invests heavily in R&D, has many learning opportunities if you are willing to go the extra mile, flexible work hours, very talented young engineering pool, great benefits and competitive pay, loads of travel opportunities, great place for a starting engineer to get experience in many areas

Cons

culture that stifles new ideas, bureaucratic and red tape, bad mid-level management, worse executive management, history-book example of how not to use 6-sixma, have to deal with midwest weather, has a lot of economic waste, encourages "yes" man culture, management does not like to hear bad news, Open discussions are not encouraged
