      Good product, good company. People build solid careers at CAT.

      Pros

      At CAT the pay is good and you're offered a comparatively secure position. There is very low turnover. People who don't like CAT or Peoria leave quickly, and those satisfied stay for decades. There are a lot of mobility in the company, so one can really explore different work avenues over their career while benefiting from seniority in one company.

      Cons

      The Peoria location may not appeal to those preferring a large metro area. And of course CAT is a huge company with its share of bureaucracy.

      Pros

      Lots of opportunities to work in various work groups. Overseas opportunities and several work locations throughout the US as well. The pay is great, 95th percentile for most jobs.

      Cons

      Diversity quotas sometimes hurt internal applicants who don't meet those criteria. Diversity is a great thing, but a lot of companies, including Cat, have swung the pendulum far left. It's a difficult balance.

      Pros

      Lot's of opportunity for career progression within the company. Even with the poor economy CAT is still having record quarters. You can go all over the world with CAT. If you want to try diffent jobs there is always opportunity to change your career path if you want to.

      Cons

      Some of the locations aren't the most glamorous. Most of the facilities are in Illinois.
