Pros

About as stable as it can be Work from home

Cons

No raises Decreasing benefits (health, food, drinks, etc. - some big items, some small) Food (used to be good) A lot of people on cruise control until things pick up..then they will leave the company Too much red tape No travel - non-HQ teams/member cannot meet. If you are not in San Jose, you are at a major disadvantage Too many corporate initiatives - can't keep track Loosing its luster on the resume Too big

Pros

Good Management (Mid-level line managers are great). Adequate recognition and rewards. Vast peer resources (Subject experts all around) Honest and accountable corporate culture. Resources for Cisco Certifications. Great health and gym benefits. Cisco is a great place to work if you're willing to reach out to the experts and take charge of your own initiatives. There are many resources along the way to help you out. I say, and continue to say, this is a great place for college grads for the first 5 to 10 years of their career.

Cons

Cost cutting in talent recruitment (i.e. no more college new hires in San Jose CA HW Campus). Lots of lifers just hanging around doing average work. Bureaucracy a major hinder. Those criticisms are with any large company.

Pros

extremely flexible work lifestyle. Most staff work from home - they encourage staff to work from home to cut costs.

Cons

0 pay increment. I heard the longest is 5 yrs without pay increase. low career growth for individual contributors. You have to have direct reports in order to get promoted. Fringe benefits shrunk as a result of massive cost cutting measures. A few very senior and experienced professionals were repatriated in order to cut costs. This is a great demotivator. It shows the company do not recognise and value your contribution.
