Pros

Famous brand, lots of internal resources. So big that you can take the initiative to do your own thing. Different culture in different parts of the business. Good benefits (insurance, vacation). Love all the bleeding edge tech that you can use.

Cons

Politics is pervasive and saturates all decisions no matter how unimportant. Success depends on how good you are at schmoozing, the group you're in, your boss and who likes him/her.

Pros

There are a lot of different departments to transfer into if you don't like where you are or if you want to do something new.

Cons

Transfers are subject to many layers of management approval and are often stopped for arbitrary reasons or just plain spite. It's also a good way for 'drones' to go and hide for a couple of years until the next group figures out they are just keeping the chairs warm. The Internal processes are archaic and only serve to slow down progress and keep the process people employed. A project that takes six months at any other company takes two years at Cisco. Politics is by far the worst of any place I've ever seen. It's more about climbing the ladder and getting more power than doing the job.
