Pros

I can generally work from home.

Cons

Limited promotional opportunities so it's important to play politics well if you want to succeed. Few women in leadership positions. Lots of lip service on diversity but no real data is shared. With limited raises and underperforming stock, it's not a good place to retire from unless you are in a senior management position. Managers and above refer to themselves as "your leadership team" (ironic) and post their pictures on every email. And, of course, they are all wearing suits and ties. Individual advertisement and selling is a big time waster at Cisco. Innovation is not emphasized or rewarded. Instead, you have to learn to play the game well and know who to buddy up with.

Pros

- Very comprehensive work experience to be received. - Great exposure to marquee customer base - $10K/year in tuition reimbursement with tight tie-ins to Stanford and Berkeley that enable you to use those funds. - Very collegial and supportive work environment. - A long list of potential product groups that one can work at if you need a change (and a very nonrestrictive open policy that allows you to change jobs internally without upper management interference)

Cons

- Hard to get promoted. Upward mobility is a company-wide issue. - Drab offices
