      Depends on the product you are working on

      Pros

      Good health benefits and 401K matching. Health and Fitness Center on campus Good work/life balance

      Cons

      Very little scope to move into different functions such as sales, marketing, consulting etc. Salary starts out well, but after that there are hardly any increments, irrespective of being ranked as a top performer. The middle management layer is just too fat, lots of unnecessary people.

      Pros

      Large, mature company - good overall benefits, esp. SJ campus - Onsite Daycare, Onsite Gym, Good number of cafetarias. Eventhough predominantly routing and switching, It now has branched out to more technologies. Global company - opportunities for people with constraints to find something internal if needed to relocate. Helps community. Chambers at the helm. #1 in market share in primary businesses and within the top few in new ventures.

      Cons

      Work environment depends where you end up within Cisco. Experience can range from very good to extremely poor. Has become a mature company - if you are young and hungry, no longer the right place to be at (except in pockets within Cisco). Given mature, no longer work and/or attract top talent.

      Pros

      I'm happy to have a steady job. People are usually impressed to know I work at a name recognized company.

      Cons

      Too much internal politics and backstabbing amongst senior management. I don't understand how the executives allow this to happen - unless they promote it. Excellent performing leaders are forced to leave for no good reason other than land grab.
