      Pros

      If you haven't had a professional experiences, this would be a good start. Citigroup is a big name to be written on your resume. Company benefits cover most of the museums in NY and health, dental coverages are very cost effective (until 2008). Benefit costs doubled in 2009.

      Cons

      If you are working anywhere else but NY, there are no room for career development. You are stuck on a dead-end job. All directives are passed down from NY and there are no recourse. After two years of being a Personal Banker, your option is to become a Business Banker or a Branch Manager. Most of the bankers quite before two years. Compensation plan seems to change every quarter and upper managements in NY are trying their best to minimize bankers' compensation payouts.

      Pros

      Freedom and flexibility to do the right thing for your client. There is no pressure to recommend products that are not in the best interest of your client. You are free to build your business the way you want.

      Cons

      It takes a lot of work to build your practice to the point of it being self-sustaining.

      Lack of integration makes Citi a difficult place to find success.

      Pros

      As a large organization with a tremendous amount of locations and resources, opportunities to work in other states in various departments are available. The organization also values work/life balance and encourages time off along with providing flexible working conditions.

      Cons

      Due to frequent restructuring at the senior management level, the strategy is continuously changing. Coupled with the various silos created from all the M&A, the lack of cross-communication can make it extremely difficult to share best practices and network with internal talent.
