Pros

Intially the opportunity to serve in what is on the job description is there. The customers are okay to work with and truly have bought into the marketing hype.

Cons

Customers anxiously waiting and hoping for delivery since they are trapped in iron clad contracts that are changed with work orders daily. Code that never works as requested or required with elongated re-delivery dates. No response at escalation points leaving you hanging. Silo's for every division and department. There is a huge lack of leadership but somehow you are left to understand the invisible chain of command making it impossible to be productive. Extremely long hours with mandated weekend work due to poor strategic management and training be prepared to only be reactionary. A real thankless environment. The environment is toxic at this time a minimum of two people are leaving daily. This is not an A level Team. Anyone with options left is leaving. I will resign next week. This is not a healthy or productive environment.

Pros

1. Trainings are available for most of the technologies and are open to all. 2. Transport is OK. 3. Canteen quality varies by location.

Cons

1. No freedom to work in your area of interest. 2. Biased attitude of senior management decides who can work in which area, not your abilities. 3. Favourism is a major issue based on Gender, cast, culture. 4. Long working hours/No work life balance. 5. Your manager decides your fate here. No transperancy. There is no way to escalate your issues to senior management. Even if you do, the senior management is equally incompetent, so no hopes at all. 6. Employees are forced to work long hours unnecessarily to complete the work long before deadline so that seniors managers can take the whole credit for their own benefit. 7. No matter how hard you work, its your Lead who will take the credit and you cannot do anyting about it because of biased management. 8. Personal remarks/humiliation is a part of day to day communication here. I will not suggest anyone, specially laterals to join cognizant and have stopped referring my friends. 9. Your manager can misguide you while joining a project. The job role specified and the work you are actually doing will be a lot different and its very difficult to get release from a project if you are not your managers pet.

Not Great Communication

Pros

Its laid back and they train you. There are lots of opportunities for certifications and training.

Cons

Communication is very poor. After getting hired, I went through some training then spent months on the bench before being assigned to a project. I spent about 6 months on a project and now they just told me if I don't find a new project on my own in the next month, then I won't be working there anymore. They made me and my family move even though I have worked from home every single day anyway and now I might not even have a job with them just a year later.
