Pros

Dish is truly a great place to work. Management works with you to enhance your strengths and help strengthen your developmental opportunities. The expectations of performance is high, and the company supports you to be and show your best. The employees are fun to work with and be around, but also a productive work environment. There is also the opportunity to move around within the company. You want to try something new? Transfer to a new team or department with ease!

Cons

Though you may be salaried, managers look at when you badge in and out of work to ensure you’re putting in the agreed upon hours a week. You want to eat lunch outside? Probably should make sure you’re hours are good.

Really bad company

Pros

None. I really can't think of one positive thing except that I learned how not to manage or run a company.

Cons

Extreme stress brought on by management, especially senior management. Horrible company culture. Horrible benefits ($12,000 healthcare deductible that resets every January with poor HSA contributions). Incompetent group in HR. Extreme workload because everyone leaves and no one wants to stay long. Extreme silos and extremely hostile managers (think yelling and cursing at lower level employees on a regular basis).

Pros

The work is interesting, compensation is much better than people think, and the company is trying (with quite a bit of success) to be innovative in terms of its products/services.

Cons

I have had job openings posted for many months, and I can't get people in the door to interview due to the company's reputation - some of it deserved, some of it not. Our chairman wants to hire young, innovative thinkers, but doesn't understand that our lack of flexibility is unacceptable to this generation. As a result, we are hiring many people who just barely meet competency expectations. When a company has to scrape the bottom of the barrel to get employees, the future is very bleak. This is not meant to be offensive to the many really good people who work here, but the talent level is degrading due to the rigid policies. I really don't think that executive management understands this fact. The caliber of employees here at DISH isn't what it once was, and no matter how hard I try to paint this as a good place to work, really talented people aren't buying it. They are able to find plenty of places that will give them what they're looking for.
