Pros

Moderate PDO (10 days) for new employees. 5 paid sick days, better than nothing Free TV (basic 120 channel plus HD and local)

Cons

Capped maximum PDO (15 days) no matter how long you work at Dish Requires employees to work 0.5 hours extra per day to offset lunch time since 2009. This was done to have a 6% pay-cut for everyone to increase company's profit. IT department requires its employees to come to work half an hour earlier than everyone else since 2009. This was done to punish everyone for a few people who were late and the management didn't do their job. It makes the management looks good at the sacrifices of employee's personal time schedules and moral. IT department requires lots of unpaid over time on weekends and no differential pay for working over time, in order to hit deadlines, mainly due to extreme incompetence of management. For example, the software design and requirement is always changing and not finalized until about 5 days (sometimes even less) before the targeted release date, and yet, TQA must begin 20 days before the release date, that leaves a negative 15 days for development and internal testing, and then complaint to the employees about the low quality of software and the number of defects open going into the release. Pay raises never match the normal inflation rate. The longer someone works here, the less his/her salary level matches with the same positions at other companies. This creates a perverted incentive for people with experiences and knowledge to leave the company.

Pros

Location within the south metro Denver area. Easy to get to. Cafeteria and snack shop availability. Discount on Satellite TV.

Cons

Having your clock in/clock out reported. Lack of training encouraged by Senior Management. Overkill on compartmentalizing job functions within System Development Life Cycle. Incredibily old customer service application. Intensely monitored use of internet/email system. The beautiful campus in Englewood (Inverness) is only beautiful on the outside. The offices, and furnishings are leftover from Merrill Lynch days, no privacy, and are basically falling apart.

Pros

Getting a paycheck. I guess that's a positive.

Cons

I'm convinced that any positive reviews are entirely fake and posted by upper management. If you like working here, you're either insane or into sado-masochism. It is impossible that anybody could like working here. I've worked here for a lot longer than the 5 years my profile says, but wanted to keep identifying info to a minimum. So lets get to it... Your tools break on a daily basis. You're told to submit error reports into the void that nobody cares about. The company constantly makes perplexing decisions where it almost seems like they're actively trying to fan the flames and make things worse. At first it seems like there's upward mobility. There's not. You very quickly hit a wall, and will go nowhere. Dead end job. They actively employ people they know are liars. You get to clean up the mess. Metrics are necessary to ensure people work hard. These metrics are unreasonable, and all they ever do is make them more difficult to meet. Doesn't matter if you've worked there 20 years or what department you're in. You will sit and take back to back basic customer service calls like a new hire. You will question your poor life choices that led you to work here. Avoid at all costs. Please dear god do not work here.
