Pros

Most of my immediate coworkers were helpful.

Cons

Satellite is a dying industry. There is a negative view of middle management industry-wide. Typical boys club with all of the back-stabbing and drama of a sorority house. Like high school, they have embarrassing "core hours". This means that, as a professional adult, DISH does not trust you to come in on time, nor work like a normal person. You are required to be at the office from 9am-4pm. That's the easy part. But, all hell breaks loose if you scan in at 9:01. Emails are sent to your managers and they must answer to upper management as to why you were one minute late driving to the southermost exit in Denver during a snow storm. So, you must take a PTO day to go to the doctor, run errands, etc. There is very little work/life balance. Pay is lower than industry average and they will do anything in their power to not give you a decent raise, even create a lateral position. Medical benefits are just plain bad. It is a huge cubicle farm and you will find people on their headphones all day. 17,000 employees, yet you will feel as though you are the only one working. People can be helpful, but typically only within your department.

Pros

Its a job. Treat dish as a stepping stone for a better job in the industry.

Cons

1st off you arent a tech here you are a salesman. Sell sell sell is all they care about. Over the last 10 years I've watched so many good workers quit or get let go cause this place drives you into the ground then curb stomps your face at the end. Please, if you are reading this trying to decide if you want to work here do not work here. Please for the love of God do not work for this place it is the worst place in America to work for.

I’m responsible for our employee field operations in In-Home Services, and I’m sorry to hear that this was your experience with us. I’ve been with the company for 24 years (I started as a CSR), and I believe we can offer everyone an incredible career opportunity. Our job in In-Home Services continues to evolve, and it’s certainly different today than it was 10 years ago when you started. The primary purpose of our technicians is to be experts at talking to customers, to learn what they want out of their home entertainment experience, and to provide them with other any solutions that may improve their wireless network or home theater experience. We think our approach to helping customers is a differentiator – and while it can certainly be a stepping stone to other opportunities, we believe that a long career here at DISH has many advantages. We hope those advantages give all of our employees the desire to stay with us for years to come. If you have more feedback or suggestions that you would care to share, I’d encourage you to contact me directly, too. You can reach me at robb.origer@dish.com or 303.723.3643.

Pros

Decent pay but other than that nothing really.

Cons

If you are a product owner or PM this is the company for you. If you are an engineer stay away. So many managers, product owners and at times product owners act as architects making the life of an engineer horrible. Agile heavy middle management. Upper Management is clueless, except few most of them dont even deserve to be in those positions and are clueless about software development or IT. They are only interested in cutting costs, getting things dont but pressuring developers. And company offers absolutely no benefits whasoever. And no one knows the direction the company is headed. so if you are a new Engineer planning to join, I would recommend to stay away. Its not worth it.
