Pros

The training was good and so were my coworkers. They are quick to hire and their training was good as well; if you really need a job NOW, you can work here.

Cons

Where to begin? VERY strict environment; whatever you do don't be late and don't take sick days, you will pay for it. The customers you will work with are the dregs of society, they have no money and their credit is non-existent. They'll get bent at you when you can't get them all the killer promos due to the bad credit situation. The metrics are ridiculous, for example: Ghetto Gus with no credit and no money calls for all the killer deals.....he doesn't qualify. He then informs you he won't get paid for another week and he has nobody to help him get TV. Nothing you can do for Gus, but it goes against your close rate which effects your commission directly. One other down side to Ghetto Gus or even a Trailer Park Tammy will be the fact that they are VERY hard to understand; they'll get pissed when you ask them to spell simple things like their name or street address. It isn't my fault they cannot speak to the effect of ANYTHING that resembles the English language. ANY other sales job I have had has allowed me to QUALIFY the prospect; no money, no credit, .........no dice.....NEXT! These guys will have you spend an hour with some hillbilly only to find out their credit sucks and they have no money (or a debit or credit card for that matter).

Pros

Good pay, great people to work with (not for)

Cons

-Badge report still exists no matter what they tell you in the interview so be prepared to come to work just to badge in and THEN go to your doctors appointment. Or to have the conversation with your manager of why you had to leave before 4:30 -Management is terrible. They all live in fear of the Chairman - who still has a heavy hand in day to day operations -New management has come in from the largest CPG company in the world....and they are terrible. All of them. They are trying to make DISH into their old company -Medical benefits are horrific. Be prepared to put aside at least $10,000 before any benefits kick in. -Work/Life balance is nonexistent - when you ask management how they juggle kids and work their response is "tough" -Cheapest company around - you will share a hotel room every time you travel. And if there's only a double bed available? You will share that bed with your colleague.

Pros

Great location (right outside of Denver, Co), free tv I think the new CEO could make it better, but I don't think he's trying very hard.

Cons

Pitiful benefits, seriously pitiful raises. I feel like a lot of employees have taken a form of Stockholm Syndrome; they refuse to believe the company is bad, and keeps believing all there lies about changing the company. Recently Dish was officially not at the bottom of glass doors employers list, and not long after that we saw an influx of the policies originally cut to remove us from the bottom. It has the feel of a North Korean dictatorship. Management promotes micro management, it trickles down from the top starting with good ole Charlie who still won't leave the company alone. I work at corporate and constantly get told to make the most ridiculous changes to a piece of software that would be completely absurd to anyone who knows anything about this stuff (ie. a developer) when asked why I get told the incredibly brilliant (directors name) who is so incredibly brilliant and knows so much more than any of us about business (yes, I actually was told that) decided it would be better if it was that way and we all agree. Release cycles take about 4 times as long, because after it is developed it goes up the chain of managers that all have their input about how they think they know how to do my job. Work life balance is a joke, you are expected to work 50 hours or more. Even if you don't have any project to do because management is too busy getting their nose in other peoples business, you still are required to be at your desk and are looked at suspiciously if your time card reads less than 45 hours. Oh and that's another thing, as a salaried employee your time is heavily tracked and is done so buy being inside the building. So don't ever think of working remotely, or having a lunch meeting, or eating lunch off site. You have to make your onsite hours look good, so you better not leave.. ever.
