Pros

There is "Opportunity" and Dish continues to hire.

Cons

The reason there is opportunity is because the turnover is extremely high. Guess that should be a red flag to anyone.

Pros

Certain teams have great leadership and marketing is one of those. Feels like my manager and above honestly cares about me and my career. My coworkers are also amazing, intelligent people. Also, for as much as people don’t like Charlie for his outdated management beliefs, he’s an interesting person to work for. It’s a little edgy but that’s exciting. Erik Carlson is also a fairly strong leader. I like him and feel like he is doing his best to keep Dish going. My coworkers as I’ve mentioned are so intelligent. Dish does hire for brains and drive and they get some strong people. I’ve met very few people whom I wouldn’t call a friend. You really can take what you learn at Dish and go somewhere else and be very successful.

Cons

Unfortunately there are a lot: They try and shine the whole badge report thing up, but it’s 2019 and they still care deeply that you are physically in the building between 9-4. There’s many other ways to be productive and efficient with your time than harping on exact hours like this. This is an antiquated way of thinking and doesn’t serve any purpose anymore. Some groups in the company have what’s called the “old Dish” mentality. Lots of aggression, political plays, and downright nasty attitudes sometimes. While there’s a strong push to genuinely improve the culture, those folks with the old Dish way seem protected from any reproach. Their direct reports live in fear of doing the wrong thing. The benefits. I fear the day I get legitimately sick. Even a run to the dr for a basic illness (flu, etc.) costs a lot. Last time I went for a simple infection and it cost me $160 for the visit and $55 for labs. Just for one little visit. Offer something else besides this horrid UHC high deductible plan. I’d be financially ruined if I became ill. There is animosity between groups every once in a while. Folks who think their way is best. Get over it! We all want what’s best for the customer and what’s best for Dish. Nobody cares about who should control what system or data or whatever. Let it go and let’s just get the work done.
