Pros

Pay was good. Life lesson learned- Don't work for the money, work because you like what you do.

Cons

Corporate management is so disconnected from their front line workers it ridiculous. Supervisors never give out a rating of "Excellent" on Perfomance Appraisals (I was told exactly by sups, managers, and directors) because that would raise a red flag at Corporate. I think the use of mandatory overtime is a big reason why not to work at Dish. It's not that bad if it's scheduled weeks or even a single week in advance. It's the overtime that they schedule you for after your shift ,10 minutes before your regular shift is supposed to end (which is more often than not). Who wouldn't be unhappy with that? Maybe you have to pick up your kids, have a 2nd job, or just have plans after work. Exceptions for those instances are so very, very, very, extremely rare and you don't even get a break in between to make a phone call. I was also passed up for a promotion on 3 different occasions because upper "mismanagement" had already predetermined who would get that position before it even posted. I was just as qualified, if not more so, than the other applicants in two of those instances. I was told by my supervisor that even though I should get it that I wouldn't because of "office politics". After Mr. Clayton took over 'everybody is a salesperson' was the common theme at Dish. As I was a door to door salesman I really had no problem but some people just can't sell. But if you didn't sell or didn't sell enough you are reprimanded.

Pros

Fast Promotional structure 6 month period for lateral movement and schedule changes based on performance. Lots of lateral opportunity, within various career fields, management, back office support, tech. Multiple schedules available, to suit any work situation, good hourly guarantee of minimum fulltime hours. Opportunity to work less hours available sometimes, depending on call volume and situations. Very open hiring standards and apply to hire timeframe, fast learning process.

Cons

Poor management support structure inexperienced out of field supervisory team. Ineffective higher management policy changing decisions, fast decisions to change company to client policy without much notice. Very fast turnover for supervisory and associate level employees in all departments related to customer service. If certain performance or soft skills goals are not met, very difficult lateral transfer process and shedule change capability. If no interest in transfer or promotion is displayed within a period of one year, you are locked into whatever situation you were in from that point on. Poor HR support for lower to higher management communication non supportive environment.
