I got fired for having Strep because I had already missed work within the past 3 months for a vacation that I let them know about well ahead of time. When offering the doctor's note, my manager said "it doesn't matter". We did not have a separation of "sick time" and "vacation time", so you were effectively not allowed to get sick. I hope this has gotten better.
My stats were the best in my call center and my reward was taking more calls. I would take 80 calls during a shift while my teammates would take 15-20. During the "dead hours of the day", I'd be back to back for 4 hours straight while the guy sitting next to me wouldn't take a single call. Customers would literally have to wait on hold for me to get off the phone while people were around me waiting to take a call. When asked about this, management would brush me off and act like my issues were not real.
The pay was not good.
In 2017, Dish told their employees that if they stick with the company up through 2020 and the transition to being a "5G company", everyone would get a certain amount of stock in the company. The day before this payout, Dish laid off a large amount of employees, some of which I was close to and used to work with there. Some of which had worked for the company for a decade. I was lucky enough to have been fired long before this happened.
It's the worst job I ever had. I would never recommend working here to another human being.
I would love to hear that it's gotten better over time (since I left in 2017), but it would be really hard to believe that.
