Pros

Only big firm in Jacksonville in IB. Great place to start and looks good on your resume. Short commutes to work, which is rare because most big banks are in big cities. Plenty of networking events to meet colleagues whether it is sports teams or happy hour socials (HH not paid for by DB, don't get your hopes up).

Cons

(From the back office prospective) Managers will block you from moving to different groups because they don't want to have to replace you. You are not eligible to be promoted unless you receive 2 "Very Good" ratings in a row but senior management tells managers not to rate anyone above "good" unless they are years over due for a promotion. They know they have a monopoly on the industry in Jax so they are not too worried if you leave unless you run a team. VPs provide no help with Career advancement but are shocked when you leave (they assume no one has anywhere else to go in Jax). If you have series license prior to working at DB they will not sponsor you unless it is required for your job. The "paying for your MBA" line is a scam. They won't. Every young person in the BO is trying to make it to the FO. Very slim chance as they have a pipeline to Vanderbilt to fill all entry level jobs in FO.

Pros

smart, hardworking people. strong fixed income footprint. grad program is unique in receiving several rotations over time. firm has a way of getting over the hurdles of the organization to make some great top line revenue

Cons

everyone manages upwards even post Anshu's departure. poor leadership and a culture of distrust. Cost to income ratio of 119% and antiquated technology. Silo'd firm with borders that prevent progress.
