Pros

You can always find hours in other departmengs. Usually can get over time as well.

Cons

Nobody cares about their job, including management. Management is not supportive of employees. Raises do not exist. The clientele is mostly trashy. The best employees are treated poorly and the bad employees are praised when they do something right for once.

Pros

Emphasis on collaboration and teamwork, especially in my experience as a server and from what I could tell this applied to the front desk team as well. Great place to learn, and make friends--lots of employees are uw students or graduates. Opportunities to possibly network with hotel guests, and just talk to lots of different people. Management was very approachable and helpful, always open to questions.

Cons

Schedule as a server can be hectic and extremely demanding, especially as a full time student. Late nights are common, and there are times (hockey games, wrestling tournaments) when you will work very long shifts for entire weekends. Can be hard to negotiate switches or time off.

Hilton Benefits, growth in field, training's are abundant, good name to have on your resume if you are looking to stay in hospitality.

Cons

Horrible hours, Horrible pay for all non-managers, terrible GM who lies and steals from other peoples experiences. Calls in for staff from far away then fires them when they stand up for what is right, friends in management get paid ridiculous pay while others don't. Will even lie to cover up his own mistakes.
