Pros

I had a chance to Intern at DoubleTree hotel and they made sure to have all of us experience every part of the Hotel. From checking in guests, working the kitchens, and even doing housecleaning, we got a 360 view of working at a hotel.

Cons

We were basically free manual labor. On certain days we would just clean doors for hours.

Pros

Health insurance, paid time off, and a great travel program (nearly free hotels). I worked in a kitchen and thought it was a good, fun atmosphere for young people who aren't quite ready for a more professional job.

Cons

I worked at a fairly small property and it still had a corporate feel to it. I suppose that is not necessarily a bad thing, but it wasn't needed there. The hours were strange too; to get 40 hours a week you needed to work six days a week. The pay for a cook was not horribly low, but the tip share was heavily in the server's favor (that might be dependent on your location though).
