Pros

Free food and drinks. Nice toilets.

Cons

Do not get sucked in by their sales pitch of being progressive, modern and 'sexy'. The free food, sexy office and fake desire to be progressive wears off very quickly when reality sets in as to how the company's condition is after you walk through the door and uncover how they truly operate. Fundamentally, Bloomberg is a wolf dressed in sheep's clothing. In this case, it's dressed as a Google-wannabe. The reasons why: *Dated systems and practices *Inexperienced and stale managers with no substance who do not have a clue, they get to their positions because they know how to play the politics. They aren't SMEs, do not know how to manage, guide or lead teams/people. *Juniors and managers talk in condescending and elementary ways, they teach you how to suck eggs. This is probably due to the fact that the talent in Bloomberg is actually quite poor, so they like to sound more intelligent than they actually are. *All lip service, just be good at talking, then you can get far. *All the technical expertise you have are not really highly regarded, as they prefer old ways of working and aren't receptive to change for better efficiency - therefore not progressive. *Juniors are overconfident and lacks substance but manages to get praise because they know how to talk but in reality they do not hold much technical expertise and crumble when questioned. Juniors tend to fluke their roles. It creates a political 'Lord of the Flies' working environment. *Not as team orientated as they claim, a lot of people are individual contributors - they are focused within their own silo operations and don't really care to think of others. *Not flat as they claim - there are structures within their sub-teams. *Micro-management - tracks when you come into the office and leave *Long working hours 8-6

Pros

Great Office, Free Snacks and plenty of social events

Cons

Be prepared for a heavily politicised culture — it's pervasive and affects day-to-day working life significantly. The organisation suffers from clear in-group favouritism at the leadership level, where certain groups are visibly preferred for opportunities, recognition, and advancement. This creates an uneven playing field and quietly damages morale for those outside those circles. Leadership collaboration leaves a lot to be desired. In four years, I didn't experience a single structured team-building or bonding initiative — a telling sign of how little investment goes into people and team cohesion. Perhaps most concerning is the approach to compliance. Raising legitimate concerns or challenging existing practices is met with significant resistance from senior stakeholders, rather than genuine engagement. A culture where pushback replaces accountability is one worth approaching with caution.
