Pros

- They hire nearly on the spot - They train quickly

Cons

- They train quickly. Do you get the full role quickly? Sure. Do you get thrown into the deep end with next to no additional help or answers to your questions, and left to get in trouble when you inevitably get something wrong because you're left to your own devices? Absolutely. - Management is awful. My coworkers and I (age range 18 - 20) got sexually harassed by one of our supervisors, and instead of doing anything, the supervisor got "a stern talking to" and could go about her day. Being around her now has me genuinely stressed to the point where I can't even shop there, because I'm not sure if she'll do it again. - Management will NOT protect you if a customer is upset. Even though I was technically in a position of power, management would break their own policies just to make the customer happy. (Fun fact, the customer would still write a bad review later) - They promise a good raise during the interview, and then don't tell you the inevitably disappointing news when you're already at the cap, but making less than the people "below" you. If you see everyone around you getting a raise, but don't see a raise yourself, you have to breech the question to be told that you're not making anything more. - Not welcoming to physical disabilities. I have some issues with my bones that make it hard to walk at a brisk pace sometimes, but I was forced by a manager to disclose what my specific disability was, just to get her to stop calling me a child because I couldn't walk at the pace she wanted me to that day. - If you work full time, you're working F U L L T I M E. I was consistently asked to clock 50 hours a week, because managers wouldn't come in to fill empty roles when people called out sick

Pros

I enjoyed my customer service work - helping people as a part of a larger mission to help the community. I found it rewarding to advance to supervisor and pick up new skills and responsibilities such as safety auditing and supply management. And of course it was always interesting to sort all the interesting and unique donated goods.

Cons

A change in management over the past year+ has been very difficult for me. I found my work more heavily scrutinized and criticized in ways that felt unclear and unfair. The new manager had a clear bias towards certain employees, gossiped openly and loudly and often with explicit HIPAA violations, and made it literally impossible for me to keep track of inventory supplies as a part of my responsibilities. Communication between management and associates - and even between management and supervisors is very poor. Workplace culture has seemed to shift from being very flexible and people-oriented to more stringent on policy and focused on revenue. Trust in upper management is strained. Day to day if you stick to your task and focus on production, you'll probably do well. But for me it isn't what it used to be.
