Pros

It’s a job. The administrative support staff is friendly. There are a handful of cool people.

Cons

GT fills people with this notion that they are different. But all it amounts to is a large amount of corporate buzz words. Ever since the current APL took over the culture has tanked. In my time at GT several girls had to leave the firm because they broke up with a former colleague and the current Sr. Mgrs and Partners took sides when they should have stayed out of it. I once overheard a Partner (and someone who was later made partner) say horrible things about other employees of the firm. That isn’t what firms who are sincere about “people and values” do. GT is world class in talking about people and values, dynamic organizations, purple chips, etc. This is all meaningless. The partners certainly do not live these values- and at face value it’s meaningless. What is a “dynamic organization”. Dynamic is a corporate fluff word. While working at GT I was surrounded by people who friendly to we’re friendly on the outside but were cold hearted on the inside.

Pros

Some folks are great to work with. Some of the leaders really do care.

Cons

Workday practice is a total mess. They have trouble selling work and hours are much lower than they should be so consultants end up spread very thin across multiple projects and still can't hit utilization targets on paper even if they are working very hard in actuality. The independence requirements are insane!! If I had known I would have to disclose all of my investments and be told wha t I am or am not allowed to invest money in I would not have taken the job. Independence is total hell and most consulting firms don't subject employees to those invasive requirements.
