Pros

-Reasonable salary and performance bonus. -Quarterly review with line manager about performance. -Good benefits -Good secondment opportunities -Hybrid working

Cons

It is very difficult for a fresher without prior experience to cope in this environment. Seniors and managers are unwilling to teach, even during non-peak periods, and expect you to complete the workpapers on your own. Some seniors refuse to clarify doubts because they believe you should already know everything. Often they would ask you to ask your peers for help instead. But they are on the same boat too. Only one in five seniors is nice—the rest are extremely rude. Long hours and overtime on weekends might be the norm in audit, but the lack of a supportive workplace makes the workload unbearable. The training videos and sessions are useless as they do not cover everything needed to complete the workpapers independently. Communication is also a challenge. Some seniors have poor English, making discussions difficult, and some work-related conversations happen in Mandarin, which excludes those who do not speak the language. Additionally, some seniors are biased when assigning work, leading to unfair distribution of tasks.

Pros

Some folks are great to work with. Some of the leaders really do care.

Cons

Workday practice is a total mess. They have trouble selling work and hours are much lower than they should be so consultants end up spread very thin across multiple projects and still can't hit utilization targets on paper even if they are working very hard in actuality. The independence requirements are insane!! If I had known I would have to disclose all of my investments and be told wha t I am or am not allowed to invest money in I would not have taken the job. Independence is total hell and most consulting firms don't subject employees to those invasive requirements.
