It sounds bad but it really was not that bad! - Engineering Programmer Honeywell Employee Review

Pros

Benefits are excellent (vacation, holidays, personal days, 401k, medical, dental and eye, long and short term disability, life insurance, etc.). They also pay for your education. I got two degrees while working for Honeywell. Honeywell Aerospace is one of the last to have layoffs when the economy is not doing very well. The company is financially strong. They have never been underfunded in their retirement fund. Management is very good at telling everyone what is going on with the company, where they stand and where they are heading in the future. There is a cafeteria open all day as well as a company store.

Cons

I do not care who gets hired for a job just as long as they are better qualified than others applying for the same position. To meet their "quota" they tend to favor minorities when hiring even when they are not fully qualified or as qualified as many applying. I have witness this several times. I have also seen Honeywell make a special job position and title for one employee just because they had no where to advance but then refuse to do it for other individuals. You are required to go to company meetings (on their time!) and also to take certain self improvement and training courses. Honeywell is a very buracratic company that does things just because that is the way it has always been done. The culture is, right or wrong, do as you are told and do not say anything otherwise you will labeled as a "trouble maker".

Pros

Room to move around roles, departments Smart and talented engineers people- if you can make connections Great experience building Cool products

Cons

Mediocre pay Confusing processed- subject to change Unlimited PTO is a scam to set meetings up on your calendar while you’re taking time off to not fully burn out Some groups are great to work with or for, most are mediocre to bad. Politics and bureaucracy- reviews that drag on for ages while also getting constantly squeezed to finish milestones. Constant passing the buck on accountability- “there’s room under the bus for everyone!” “This is how we’ve always done it” constantly running into “new process goals” Every site was absorbed and used to be another separate company- so every site disputes the “right way” of doing things, and kind of does their own thing- despite messaging otherwise. For PE roles, if you have to incorporate multiple sites’ teams to work on the same project it can be a complete nightmare.
