Great potential, but don't go into public accounting unless you want to work hard and be underpaid for it. - Audit Senior Associate KPMG Employee Review

Pros

Experience at KPMG provides a great basis for a person to start off in business. There are many opportunities for career advancement and as long as one continues to do well and work hard the sky is the limit as far as career prospects.

Cons

There are lots of hours involved in auditing and tax, and a lot of how far a person can advance in the firm is based on the amount of stuff that the person can put up with while at the firm.

Pros

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Cons

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
