Pros

- Salary - Sports card - Stocks (if generous) - Nice offices - Friendly - New skills

Cons

- Very toxic managers - Zero room for growth - Subtle discrimination and racism (tokenism) and lack of diversity in upper chains - Lack or non existence of Agile management - Unrealistic and rushed deadlines driven by fear and politics rather than clear metrics and confident strong leaders - Favoritism - Very high turnover rate 1 star because of toxic managers

Pros

- minimal micromanagement if you do your work well - flexible schedule - decent pay for how much work you do (only needed to put in ~20hrs of work at many times to perform well) - larger design teams/systems design include some very kind, talented people

Cons

- lots of promise of growth which is never actioned on, many promotion/raise promises due to exceptional performance and taking on higher role but was never compensated. they try to keep everyone hoping it will happen for as long as possible before they quit and just add responsibility with no compensation. - toxic coworkers (extremely rude on calls, inappropriate/passive aggressive comments, constantly doing job very badly and causing others to do their work for them) - HR never did anything although coworkers across teams were in agreement that this was happening on countless occasions - lots of boomer employees that have worked there for 10-20 yrs and seemingly don't do any work, don't understand anything, cannot grasp current technology or processes and all-around make everything harder day to day by making others compensate for their inability to perform at a baseline level - toxic management, lots of turnover and constant big reorgs/rebrands without following through on the previous ones, caused tons of disorganization and tons of throw-away work/unnecessary pivots - lots of layoffs, many times of people that were the only good employees and all of the people who could barely do their job or were terrible to work with were spared

Looks can be deceiving

Pros

New and clean offices with employee parking spot. Good colleagues.

Cons

Micromanagement, as a result of people being "People managers" that cannot even perfom the basic task of listening to their team. No matter what you say it's always your fault and the managers are very defencive about the company. Even when the mid year or end year review is due they will go as far as putting you in a meeting room and giving you a text to copy paste on the "Anonymous feedback", just so they can present to upper management and shareholders that working in Expedia is amazing and wonderful. They keep firing people due to cutdowns all the time and they have removed almost all benefits. They keep complaining that there is no budget for team building, or even have fruits put out. In Prague offices they now serve Lidl crackers and M&Ms as a benefit instead of the bars and fruits they used to have. The company events are basically non existant now, they had the Xmas "party" done in the kitchen after work between 18:00 and 21:00. They keep boasting about the company numbers and revenue all the time but on the contrary there are no salary increases and absolutely zero chance to ever get promoted, as current managers will wait for the world to end rather than move up or leave the company. The KPIs is another missleading joke that they did not mentioned on the job listing. If you fail to achieve the bonus (which defeats the purpose of it being a bonus for the extra effort you put, here is mandatory) then you are threatened with PIP and then firing. Speaking of the job listing, they recently changed a position title because employees complained that it did not mentioned anywhere that instead of actually account managing as the title was, you are simply cold calling people all day, trying to push them to put discounts on their properties. The management will even dare to say that "We are essentially a call centre here and if you are not willing to go the extra mile, then maybe you will be happier at another company". In my team, they even made all the hiring on the basis that the people who are moving to Prague for the job will be forced to stay and work as slaves because they have nowhere else to go. Management will even threaten and push the team to do 3 times the work of what your contract says because "I can't afford to lose another bonus". I would not recommend the way the company has devolved the last 10 months.
