Pros

- Offers a back door into blue chip companies should you lack in any area of their applications process. - Entry level roles allow for progress within these companies. - Easy to get into

Cons

- Training is basic to say the least classroom based with trainers who don't really understand the role. - £20,000 debt is what you end up with from the training if u leave at any time before the end of two years, that is only just off the price of university fees. - If you don't get a placement then you have to still attend your nearest academy and they still don't pay you. This means that if you pay travel costs and don't get placed for 3 months after you have completed training then you still have to pay to get there which for me would have cost a further £900 on top of the initial £900 to cover the training itself. - when you get placed you have to sort out your own living costs. - No guarantee of a job after training. - No security with the job. - No loyalty to trainees. Considering that people are there products the treatment of staff is awful and the seem to have no empathy for people.

Pros

They guarantee you a job in a respectable institute For two years they will find you work They are essentially an agency so should you lose your job they find you another but the upside is they pay you while you're in their offices doing some 'training'

Cons

You are a product, they will not help you with career development in any way shape or form They pay half the industry standard They value 'training' at £20,000 however very few courses are trainer led, the Excel VBA course is an abridged version of Excel for Dummies They tell you salaries after the 2nd year will double but they come in at a lower rate than they promised when first trying to ensnare you, again under industry standard.

Pros

- Fun vibrant atmosphere - FDM gives people a chance that don't have any experience, but have the raw talent and skills. I came to FDM straight from University and it was a brilliant way to get my foot in the door at an expanding international organization. - Professional working environment and friendly work colleagues - Every day is different and dynamic - Great office space in Wall Street. I actually have a view of the statue of liberty from where I sit - Senior management value your opinons and you actually get to meet and interact with them - Social activities - Boat parties, pizzas in the office - International opportunites - Technical trainers in the NY office are of top quality - They really know their stuff!! - This is the only job I have every really enjoyed and I think this is down to the company culture and positve attitude of the people working at FDM

Cons

FDM does not just hand it to you on a plate. To be successful you need to be willing to work hard and take the opportunity seriously. However, success is rewarded and if you show that you have what it takes there is fantastic career progression. Also serious $$$ in years to come. You need to ok with starting at the bottom and working your way up the ladder.
