Pros

No layoff policy. This is big. Programs, applications are very progressive. As a Senior manager, one is given a lot of freedom to manage and lead a facility. Leadership models are available through many portals and are cutting edge. FedEx stays very current with every aspect of the transportation industry.

Cons

The new annual bonus structure; The strategy to achieve goals is really a thinnly vailed pay cut. It is understood that these are trying times for many companies, however, transparancy at all levels, including compensation should be forthright. Make the goals fair and consistant.

Pros

Benefits are the only reason to work at FedEx. The benefits package is great, and you don't pay a whole lot in comparison with other companies.

Cons

The pay. The hours. The non-existent bonus for admin. The constant changing of policies and procedures. The pay is below-average, even for people who consistently get Meets + reviews. Upper management pays little attention to the suggestions given by Admin, even when it affects customer service in a huge way. Procedures are constantly changing and if you're doing something right one day, your doing it wrong the next. They also add a lot of unneccessary work to your day and expect you to get it done in the same amount of time, especially during peak season. No overtime pay

Pros

The history of this industry is that there is generally a sense of security during tough economic times. The ability to transfer to another station in perhaps another state and discounts on shipping.

Cons

Work hours are posted but change at any given time. I have gotten phone calls at home just as I was leaving for work to come in an hour later due to late freight. Fedex Express is constantly trying to reinvent themselves and the employees (hourly) seem to get caught in the middle of it. They are always changing not only start times but sometimes mandate overtime without proper notice to the employee and do not recognize seniority when doing so. They micro manage on a daily basis and employees are questioned daily about their performance almost to the point of harassment. No domestic partnership benefits.42 million people in this country without health care and Fedex doesn't allow for this benefit!!!!
