Pros

The best reasons to work for Fidelity are the benefits, the compensation versus other financial institutions, and the ability to work from home when it is necessary. I wa blown away by the compensation I got this year and how it shows that they actually pay for performance.

Cons

There is a lot of red tape around getting things done, especially at the software development level. Sometimes they also squash creativity but it gets better over time. The one thing to know about this is that it is all about the group that you get into and who you work for.

Pros

Very easily to be promoted within the company, as long as you excel at your previous role. Challenging enough to keep you interested until you master that role, at that time there is opportunity to move along. Benefits are unmatched compared to anywhere! 7% match on 401(k), 10% profit sharing into 401(k) each December, quarterly bonuses, health packages, fitness reimbursement, almost fully paid advance degrees (i.e. MBA).

Cons

It can be monotonous at times. Initially, you start out on the phones as a Customer Service rep. As long as you aren't a screw up in that role, it's easy to move along to others with more responsibility. It is very much an inbound call center, however, training there is very good. Still good education when it comes to market knowledge and very, very good licensing training (7, 63, 66... possibly CFP pending on how far you move along). I have no experience in branch roles.

Pros

profit shareing bonus is awsome 10% of salary after the first full year of working there. Also they match dollar for dollar up to 7% every pay check. Great for getting securities licences. Also the education match is helpful for people going to school they will pay up to $10,000. However, my manager said this started right away when I was hired he lied I had to wait 6 months before they would pay me back.

Cons

no upward movement... once your in a role you feel stuck in a box you cannot get out of
