Pros

The New York office is a nice. Solid location too.

Cons

• Ineffective Communication: Persistent issues with clarity and consistency in communication. • Lack of Transparency: A notable deficiency in open and honest communication about performance and expectations. • Inconsistent and Exaggerated Feedback: Feedback was unreliable and often overstated, leading to confusion. • Infrequent Constructive Feedback: Constructive and actionable feedback was rare, leaving employees unsure of how to improve. • Vague and Irrelevant Feedback: Feedback often lacked specificity, making it difficult for employees to address actual concerns. • Resistance to Clarity: Attempts by employees to seek clarity were met with resistance, undermining the effectiveness of performance check-ins.

Pros

They really do try to have a good societal impact

Cons

They have a weird cult-like structure of co-ownership and they try to really claim that that has no bearing on the company's decision but you basically have 400 fiefdoms and the ability for you to argue against them in any context is impossible whole careers can be changed by the whims of one of these people

Thanks for taking the time to share feedback on your experience at Gensler. We appreciate your candor and consider all the feedback we receive. Encouraging our people to ask questions and share their perspectives is fundamental to our firm’s culture. We are truly sorry to hear your negative impressions of the firm. We appreciate your feedback, but since you have not identified the office in which you work we're unable to share your comments with your office/regional leadership team.

Pros

Learning lots of skills - opportunities to learn and grow Client interfaces are exciting Design Excellence

Cons

Different office locations compete against each other for the same work and client which creates a contradiction from the company's professed "one-team" approach. There is a lack of trust between offices and leaders. Some Design Principals are past their due date but linger along to collect salary and benefits while bonuses are distributed without transparency and regional discretion. BEWARE

Thanks for taking the time to share feedback on your experience at Gensler. We appreciate your candor and consider all the feedback we receive and will share your comments with leadership. We are puzzled by your impressions concerning competitiveness between offices for clients and work. Every Monday morning leaders represent each of our offices attend a call in which all prospective clients and new projects are openly discussed in an effort to avoid internal competition for work. This weekly occurrence has been in action for decades.
