Pros

Gensler has an elaborate company subculture of office events and online communities for those who want to partake of it. Opportunities to work on projects in distant locations are frequent.

Cons

Senior management in the Houston office is male-dominated; a glass ceiling appears to exist for women, gays, and minorities. Promotions are often made on the basis of how well one cultivates relationships with the managers rather than on the basis of skills and knowledge. Over-hiring in 2005-07 has recently resulted in rounds of layoffs.

Pros

Gensler is a good place to start out in your career. As you stay there, it is easy to get pigeon-holed in the corporate structure. You can start to feel like a cog.

Cons

Pay is lower than at other firms because bonuses are considered as part of annual pay. Bonuses are optional, so to the firm's advantage.
