Pros

Most of the staff are good people and, depending on the project, the work itself can be interesting. As long as you're not trying to get promoted, it is possible to have a reasonable work/life balance.

Cons

Within the past 5 years, GPS went from one of the best DC consulting firms to work for to one of the worst. The culture is completely damaged and dysfunctional. Quality is being sacrificed everywhere for profits, there is almost no support or training for staff, middle-managers are stretched in too many directions to be effective, and there is a real lack of honesty and commitment at the partner level.

Pros

Talented Individuals: Grant Thornton had several talented individuals within the data analytics team who were skilled in their respective areas of expertise. Professional Development Opportunities: The nature of the work provided opportunities for professional growth and learning in the field of data analytics.

Cons

Poor Work-Life Balance: The excessive overtime work hours and lack of consideration for work-life balance created a challenging and stressful environment while being part of a poorly managed data analytics team, led by Swetha. Harsh Feedback and Lack of Appreciation: Swetha's feedback and guidance were consistently harsh and demotivating. Instead of providing constructive criticism and support, the tone used was often condescending and belittling. This created a toxic work environment, where team members felt undervalued and demoralized. Lack of Appreciation: There was a noticeable lack of appreciation for the hard work and dedication exhibited by the data analytics team. Achievements and successes went unrecognized, while mistakes were magnified and used as opportunities for blame rather than learning and improvement. This further contributed to low employee morale and a lack of motivation.
