Pros

The local Greenpeace organisation gave me a lot of responsibility which allowed me to grow professionally. I don't think this would have been possible in more traditional NGOs. Smart, very driven colleagues who care about the organisational goals and are not there to advance their personal careers.

Cons

At times a hectic, high pressure environment. Can take over your life/free time. Can be tough if you expect to be given step by step instructions - more suitable for independent team players.

Extremely valuable learning skills. You can get any sales job in the world after a few years of frontline. A lot of organizational and team/individual support.

Cons

Alcoholism. Feeling completely dead inside.
