Pros

Very addictive technology, one of a kind products, huge potential to grow big as a company

Cons

Senior management with no technology vision, not employee friendly work place, HR behaves like NAZi's, no fairness when it comes to employees vs management, company does not care about your personal life, no strategy to take the company to the next level, haven for ex Motorolla employees crushing all the principles, values once NAVTEQ cared...

Pros

Lack, maybe if you are waiting for retirement and those 2-3 years when company will still exists is enough for you

Cons

Where to start... Nokia mind - papers everywhere, each process takes ages to proceed, and finally you still need to do things like sending to external company screenshots of internal systems. Technology stack - everything runs on Java 8 and Scala from 2016, good ideas like using protobuf are replaced with bad ones like using everywhere geojson. Code quality - is bad, very bad, "pure functions" with side effects, devs not knowing languages writing in this language. People - most of developers seems to work in state of mind "we are an elite" when most of them were elite ~10 years ago, and now they live in the past. And all people feels entitled, company didn't produced any profit by last years, most of people is doing bare minimum, and everyone is expecting rises. Button Pushers - there are people who by last 5-10 years were always downloading some files, put it into some folder, run button and uploaded produced file to e-mail/sharepoint/similar

Pros

Transport facility. Insurance facility. Nap room

Cons

The review provided is about an organization named "Here," which highlights several negative aspects of the company's work culture and practices. Micromanagement and Time Tracking: The company employs micromanagement tools to closely track employees' activities, creating a stressful and suffocating work environment. Employees feel constantly scrutinized and pressured to account for every minute of their workday. Proprietary 3D Designing Tool: The company uses its own 3D designing tool, expecting employees to master it. However, the tool is not globally recognized, limiting its value outside the organization and potentially wasting employees' effort and time. Lack of Design-Related Work: Despite being hired as designers, employees don't engage in actual design work. Instead, they follow repetitive tasks without room for innovation or creativity. Idea Rejection and Patent Theft: The company's idea portal often rejects proposals, but later, these ideas are merged and patented without giving credit to the original proposers. Promotion and Recognition Issues: Promotions seem influenced by factors other than expertise, as favoritism and petty tasks for managers play a role in getting recognized. Pseudo Role of SME: Promotions may not come with actual changes in job responsibilities, leaving employees with a mere title of Subject Matter Expert (SME) but no significant difference in tasks or status. Job Titles and Pay Grades: Job titles like 3D Map Modeler I, 3D Map Modeler II, and Sr. Map Modeler don't indicate significant differences in roles. The only distinction lies in varying pay grades. Unequal Treatment in the Team: Some employees consistently receive appreciation, promotions, and authority due to their alignment with management and credit-taking for others' work. Shared Systems and Laptops: Employees do not have personal systems; they share desktops between two shifts. This can create inconvenience, especially when working late. Managers and higher positions receive laptops, while others are left with shared systems. Creating Problems to Sell Solutions: Some employees create issues and offer solutions to gain recognition and influence within the company. Financial Manipulation: The company shows profit for most quarters but claims losses during increment periods, raising suspicions of financial manipulation to withhold employee compensation. The personal experience shared reflects a work environment lacking in transparency and fairness. Blunders by certain individuals, including managers, often go unpunished, creating a culture where favoritism thrives. Proposing process-enhancing ideas faces slow responses, while negative information about colleagues gets immediate attention. This skewed priority can lead to demotivation and frustration among employees. In summary, the review portrays a dysfunctional and toxic work environment at "Here," with limited growth opportunities, micromanagement, and a lack of genuine recognition. The proprietary tools restrict employees' options, leaving them stuck in the organization, and promotions seem influenced by factors beyond expertise. A lack of design-related work stifles creativity, and unequal treatment among teams fosters a sense of favoritism. The shared systems add to inefficiencies, while financial manipulation during increment periods raises doubts about the company's fairness and transparency.
