HP Inc. (after the split)

Pros

A vast majority of the team are driven to achieve results and work collaboratively on a day to day basis. Typically strong market positions in the various businesses. Able to generate free cash flow.

Cons

Senior management team will refer to the culture created by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, but they are long past embracing what was started in the Palo Alto garage. Sure, times change, but the principles of Bill and Dave towards managing a culture remain basic. Today, there is a have, have not hierarchy. How you view the company for better or for worse will depend on where you fit in that hierarchy.

Hi there! Thank you for your review and for taking the time to recognize our working environment and learning opportunities! To your point about restructuring, I'd like to mention that we have already announced a proposed restructuring, and the same thing is happening in many other tech companies. In addition to this, all employees impacted by our restructuring efforts are welcome to re-apply for employment. Also, the entire performance management process is being improved, and more details will be shared with employees soon. ~ Madalina Antohe, Employer brand & digital media leader

Pros

Nice flexible work hours and the individual contributors I worked with were considerate. Most equipment provided to do the job. Some external training is supported.

Cons

Downsizing continues every year. Bad environment for late career engineers. Good for college hires and targeted groups lacking in current demographics.

Hi and thank you for taking the time to appreciate the flexibility we offer here, our people, and the training opportunities! To your point about downsizing the company every year, I want to mention that this year is a year of shaping our business. We have already announced a proposed restructuring, and the same thing is happening in many other tech companies. Technology is an industry built on change, and all major companies go through these changes and refocus their efforts. I hope this provides more context. ~ Madalina Antohe, Employer brand & digital media lead
