Pros

Tools of trade provided Nice car, phone, laptop Modern IT systems Good product Marketing of products and info is exceptional

Cons

Infighting amoungst large sales team Territory structure is unusual, it’s segmented by trade, so you can have multiple account managers dealing with the one customer depending the tool application, this turns into a bit of it’s my customer type situation Went to one customers site one day and he had already seen 3 Hilti reps and was rather annoyed about it. You are called an account manager however it’s more of a direct sell and is a technically a sales rep role kpis are more about quantity than quality Management micro manage and some are inexperienced managers

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Hilti Australia on Glassdoor. We value all feedback and will ensure your review is passed on to our leadership team. Whilst we understand that our direct sales model may differ from other organisations, it allows us to reach our customer in a manner that is aligned with our premium service promise. Customers may occasionally receive visits from multiple Hilti Sales Representatives in a day who are responsible for different trades or specialised services such as ON!Track. This model ensures that customers receive expert consultation dependant on their business need. We will consider how we can coordinate and improve this process to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction. We do use KPIs within our sales teams to measure performance and these are agreed between the team member and their line manager. We recommend that employees raise concerns to their Line Manager if they feel that their KPIs are not aligned to their role or capabilities. We’re proud of our training and development model at Hilti which allows employees to progress within the business. We have a mix of tenured and new managers and we are continuously looking into ways we can improve our Manager Training programs. If you’d like to discuss your review with our team, please email your contact details to AUHR@hilti.com and a member of our team will be in touch.

Not a company to work

Business Outlook

Pros

1. Salary 2. Company provides car to Sales Representatives and Managers 3. Training

Cons

1. Very poor Work Life Balance. 2. Work would be like going on Premium car and begging uneducated Customers to buy Costly Tools which are two times to Near Competition like Bosch 3. If you come from Good Company with proper rules then your life would be hell in HILTI as business is like Door to Door Selling where they give a "Territory " in a city and you need to sell machinery in that area like 5-10 Kms Area. ( Which they don't Say before Joining company. 4. There would be no support from colleagues as Seniors would be more interested in grabbing Business from your Territory and Always they give New Employee a worst Territory as Seniors take good areas Prior. 5. Employee Retention rate is very poor ( You could see Average of 3 people in a Team of 8 Persons will leave company less than in a year) 6. Claim Settlement of Re leaved employees is pathetic and people cant get their PF Or other Settlement even after three years of Re leave Despite providing all the details. 7. With Hell lot of pressure. Management offers Cocktail party every month ending which makes any one alcoholic.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience with Hilti. We’re very concerned to read that you felt you had a negative experience whilst working with us – we take your feedback seriously and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you. To address your point regarding work life balance, we actively promote a strong work life balance and work very hard to ensure our employees are happy which is why we’ve implemented employee friendly policies such as Flexi working hours. In addition to this, every year we conduct employee opinion surveys wherein we capture feedback on work-life balance of the employees and take serious actions to improve our existing policies and processes to enhance the overall experience of our employee. With regards to having no support or career opportunities, as part of our business strategy, developing our people is a key business focus. We have strong training and development programs in place to help team members progress. Further, our performance and people development processes allow them to have constructive discussions with respective team leaders. In the recent times, we have opened up a lot of lateral & vertical positions into which people can move based upon their performance and potential. Based upon this, we are happy to share the data that in 2016 as well as 2017 over 20% of our workforce has moved into new roles which is very high as per industry standards. Finally to address your point regarding work pressure, growth in scale and complexity in organizations can be quite taxing on people. If we have to outperform and grow we have to put in our best and a little extra effort, while working smartly, to achieve our goals. Whilst we understand that at times, workload can be challenging (which is something we’re actively addressing as through many of our engagement as well as wellness programs) we do offer an open and honest environment where our team members can openly discuss their concerns with their leaders to alleviate this issue. We have a structured target setting process every year in agreement with each team member followed by a continuous review process which is also a platform to discuss work related concerns. The team leader does his or her best to address these concerns in such platforms. We would however be happy to clarify and discuss with you in detail about your experience, therefore if you could email us your contact details at HRIndia@hilti.com a member of our team will be in contact as soon as possible.

Conservative, but good culture

Pros

Caring, performance orientation across the company. Global company with very strong financials. Tons of career development opportunities for those who are interested in advancement.

Cons

A little too conservative. If you want to advance in the company, you must be willing to relocate - likely more than a couple times.
