      Great Team Environment

      Pros

      HotPads has an amazing, collaborative, team environment, where ideas can come from anywhere and any person. Everyone is supportive, and everyone works hard. It is nice to come in to work and feel like everyone I work with is doing everything they can to make HotPads and our team successful.

      Cons

      The current office set up is pretty cramped, there is not a single open desk, and the desks are crammed in there. Since there are no empty desks...I assume some sort of fix is in the works though.

      Thanks for the positive review. You're right that we're tight on space, having filled up the last open desk today. I told facilities that we are happy to bring some sledge hammers and remove the conference rooms ourselves, but they were not thrilled with that plan. I believe they have something else in the works that we should be hearing about in a month or so. - Matt Corgan

      Simply the best group of people

      Pros

      HotPads really might be the best company in SF. It's the perfect mix of a well-funded company and an innovative startup. It's the smartest, hardest working group of people I have ever worked with and it's nice that after being so established, we aren't afraid of taking big swings, deploying changes daily, and just doing what is right for our users Other pro is that we have an awesome culture. Happy hours, game watches, lunches together, offsite days, whole company parties. It's really a welcoming place to work and it still feels like I'm coming in every day to see friends

      Cons

      The move to the new office added 7 minutes to my walk commute. But, I will be ok.

      Started off great, but crashed and burned

      - Startup where you have opportunities to learn and get creative - The benefits were amazing - Location was ideal for commuters

      Cons

      - Zero opportunities for growth and micro-management styles - If you do not follow the cookie-cutter fraternity culture here, they will find ways to fire you. - Threaten to fire you and not provide her HR representation when you ask for it. - Multiple HR violations occurred during my time working at HotPads and after the fact. NOTHING was done about the misconduct.
