Pros

Inserting you immediately into client facing positions, challenging you, giving you responsibility. There is a chance to use your time here to gain experience.

Cons

The ambition I had before working at the company had been diminished over time without me noticing, due to hierarchy and lack of growth. No work/life balance. Room for improvement in the maturity and emotional intelligence of leaders, who were mostly white men. When I look back I’m shocked at how my manager treated me and what I thought was normal as a young woman starting my career. In the end, I felt like a commodity. Even after leaving, management still tried to get me to do things for them. Selfish and unprofessional.

We thank you for taking the time share your thoughts on IBI Group. We appreciate that you recognize that IBI wants our employees to gain experience and take on challenges head on. Clients are an important part of our business and we want our employees to foster a relationship with them. With that being said, we want to acknowledge some of things you didn’t like about IBI Group. It is saddening to hear that you felt as though there is no work-life balance as we strive to provide this for our employees as best we can given the industry we work in. Employee recognition is also very important to us and IBI Group has set up many tools to allow us to show employees they are appreciated. The Kudos Program, Performance and Peer Reviews and the LEAD program are a few examples of how we recognize our talent. Although you are not an employee of IBI Group any longer, please know that we appreciate the feedback and it is always taken seriously.

Pros

Nice office, some people are nice, option to work from home, interesting projects

Cons

Long hours, deadlines on short notice (sometimes same day), people become depressed from unreasonable expectations and cry at work, some people get away with things as long as they deliver the work, low pay, no overtime pay or bank, working extra with no extra pay is expected

Thank you for your feedback as we are proud of our internally designed office space as well! We are happy to see that you are able to use our technology to work when and where you need to. We have spent a lot of time investing in our collaboration technology to ensure you have the flexibility you need. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the consulting industry tight deadlines are not easily avoidable. That being said, work-life balance is an important aspect of a healthy work environment and we have several initiatives in place. The Toronto office boasts several recreational sports teams, employee lounge, lunch n learns, social events (curling funspiel, winter and summer socials) as well as our Employee Assistance Program and our Wellness Program to assist employees in maintaining this balance. To ensure that all of our employees are compensated fairly, we have a team that continually reviews our compensation and benefits package relative to the market. Your observations and concerns help us to better understand how we can improve and we welcome the chance to discuss them live. Feel free to reach out to your local HR Business Partner so we can meet to discuss your concerns.

Pros

Free coffee? They also have annual picnics sometimes.

Cons

Not sure if this applies to all verticals in the company but my vertical had some of the most underdeveloped managers I've ever worked with. It felt like I was being managed by very talented students that blew up on people as soon as things didn't go their way. It's no wonder churn rates are through the roof. You are not set up to succeed in this company - there is no mentorship. It's more like you come in as if you were starting your own consulting company. All my coworkers seemed oppressed but the interesting thing was that they saw it as normal. They were always worried about disappointing management more than they wanted to do good work. There's unfortunately no better way to say it - it felt a bit like a cult and if you lasted long enough to get to the top, you could reap the rewards of having a following yourself. Yikes.

We appreciate your feedback. Prior to Covid-19, we took pride in hosting a variety of seasonal events and mixers to show our people that we appreciate them and that their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. We are saddened to hear that you didn’t have the best experience with your management team while you were with IBI Group as we strive to attract and develop talented leaders who impact their teams in a positive way. We are proud to offer our global Mentorship and LEAD programs that aim to identify and foster the growth and development of these types of leaders while also serving as a portal to connecting staff to share their knowledge and experience with one another.
